
We visited the 79th OMÉK exhibition
Every two years, the OMÉK (National Agricultural and Food Exhibition and Fair) is held at the Hungexpo Congress and Exhibition Centre in Budapest. This year, the 79th OMÉK exhibition was also attended by Zöldség Világ Kft.
The first day of the four-day event is mainly about professional presentations and awards, while the other days are a great opportunity for the World Greenery Ltd. to reach potential customers and encourage more people to consume vegetables through product tasting and promotion. This was a good choice, as the statistics provided by the organisers of OMÉK show that more than 85,000 visitors attended this year’s exhibition.
For the event we rented a 12 sqm corner stand from the Agricultural Marketing Centre as the organiser.
Unfortunately, the organisers did not provide a printed list of exhibitors; visitors could check the event website to find out where to find the companies. Clicking on an exhibitor’s name brought up a map to help you find your way around.
We promoted the exhibition of Zöldség Világ Kft. on the Vitamin Salon’s facebook and instagram pages, and sent out invitations with free tickets to our partners. The cooperation between Zöldség Világ Kft. and Vitamin Szalon is a long-standing one, since the products of Zöldség Világ Kft. are displayed in Vitamin Szalon stores. The presence of the Vitamin Salon on social media (facebook, instagram) facilitates the promotion of the activities of Zöldség Világ Kft. due to the high number of fans and followers of the Vitamin Salon.
The event, which runs from 26 to 29 September, tasted vegetables prepared in embossed plastic cups.
During our visit, we informed the visitors about the activities of Zöldség Világ Kft., the content, excellent quality and excellent taste of Hungarian products. We tasted and presented the products of Zöldség Világ Kft., explained their good effects on the body and encouraged the participants to eat 3*3 vegetables a day.
As this exhibition attracts a lot of children and schoolchildren, we prepared a game for the 4 days in addition to the vegetable tasting. A game board with vegetables and the logo of the Vegetable World Ltd. was made, with crocheted game pieces, dice and lucky cards. Players had to answer questions about vegetables and if they knew the correct answer, they could move on. At the end of the game, the players were not only enriched with knowledge, but also with a vegetable tasting.
At OMÉK, exhibitors were approached by the Hungarian Food Bank Association with the intention of cooperation. The association wanted to collect the surplus food accumulated at the end of the exhibition for needy people, especially families with children, and asked exhibitors to make donations based on their individual decisions. Vegetable World Ltd. was one of 15 exhibitors who donated their untasted produce to charity on the closing day of the exhibition. The Food Bank Association thanked the companies for their donations in a press release.

Overall, it can be said that Zöldség Világ Kft. managed to address the visitors of OMÉK2019 in such a way that many of them got the urge to eat vegetables. Based on the suggestions they received (cooking, storage, vitamin and mineral content), housewives are more likely to reach for a previously unused and unpopular vegetable.
From a professional point of view, the present manager and the trader of Vegetable World Ltd. had useful discussions and benefited from the technical presentations.
